VMware – Fix Max Resolution to 1920×1080 on Windows

If you can’t set your screen resolution to 1920×1080 on Display Settings like here:


Do the following steps:

  1. Go to vSphere -> Edit the VM -> Select Video card -> You see that ‘Total video memory’ is default only 4MB


2. Do a gracefully Shutdown to Windows VM

3. After it turned off – > Close & Reopen Settings -> Select Video card -> Increase ‘Total video memory’ to 12MB


4. Power on the VM -> Connect to Windows through Console/RDP -> Open again Display Settings -> Now you can change the Resolution to 1920×1080.
